[01] OVERVIEW
WHAT ARE DRAIN & SEWER SERVICES?
Drain and sewer services cover everything that carries wastewater away from your home — the drains under your sinks, showers and tubs, and the main sewer line that runs from your house to the city connection. When any part of that system slows down, backs up, or breaks, the problem tends to get worse quickly and affect the whole household.
Proper drain and sewer work starts with finding the actual cause, not just pushing the clog further down the line. We use camera inspection to see inside the pipe, which tells us whether we're dealing with grease buildup, tree roots, a collapsed section, or a pipe that's simply reached the end of its life. From there we clear it, or repair and replace the damaged portion.
At Plumbers That Care, we explain what the camera shows you before recommending anything. If a simple cleaning will solve it, that's what we'll tell you. If the line genuinely needs repair or replacement, you'll see the evidence and get a written price before we start — including trenchless options that don't require digging up your yard.
Acting fast changes the outcome. Water damage addressed within the first 24–48 hours is dramatically cheaper and less invasive to repair than damage discovered weeks later, once mold and structural rot have set in.
[02] WARNING SIGNS
SIGNS YOU NEED DRAIN OR SEWER SERVICE
Drain problems build slowly, then fail all at once. These are the signals worth acting on early.
Slow draining sinks or tubs
Water that lingers instead of draining means buildup is already narrowing the pipe.
Gurgling sounds from drains or toilets
Air trapped in the line is a classic early warning of a developing blockage.
Multiple drains backing up at once
When several fixtures fail together, the problem is usually in the main sewer line.
Sewage odors indoors or in the yard
A persistent sewage smell points to a cracked, leaking, or blocked sewer line.
Water backing up in an unexpected fixture
A toilet flush that fills the tub means wastewater has nowhere else to go.
Unusually green or soggy patches in the lawn
A leaking sewer line underground feeds that patch of grass and softens the soil.
Frequent clogs in the same drain
Repeat blockages in one spot usually mean roots, a belly in the line, or a damaged section.
Toilets that flush slowly or incompletely
Weak flushing across multiple toilets often signals a partial main line obstruction.
Not sure what's causing it? We'll run a camera inspection and show you exactly what's happening inside the line — no guessing, no unnecessary work.

[07] FAQ
DRAIN & SEWER QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
-
If only one fixture is affected, it's usually a local clog. If multiple drains are slow or backing up at the same time — especially the lowest ones in the house — the problem is almost always in the main line.
-
We don't recommend them. Chemical cleaners rarely dissolve the actual blockage, and repeated use corrodes older pipes from the inside. They also make the line more hazardous for whoever works on it next.
-
Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the inside of the pipe clean, removing grease and buildup that a snake only punches a hole through. It's the better choice for recurring clogs and heavy grease.
-
It's a method of replacing your sewer line without digging a trench across your property. We access the line from small entry points, which protects your lawn, driveway, and hardscaping while still delivering a full replacement.
-
Yes, and it's one of the most common causes of sewer failure. Roots seek moisture, find hairline cracks or joints, and grow inside the pipe until they block it or force it apart.
-
It depends on the material. Older clay and cast iron lines commonly last 50 to 60 years, while modern PVC can last considerably longer. Homes built before the 1980s are the most likely to need attention.
-
Always. We walk you through the footage and explain what you're looking at before recommending any repair, so you can make the decision with the same information we have.
